Kottukal Rock Cut Cave Temple

About Kottukal Rock Cut Cave Temple

The Temple is an idyllic example of rock cut temple architecture. This temple is situated in Ittiva Panchayath. It has two cells on either side with Sivalingams in each with a projection carrying the figure of Ganapathy at the centre. One of the niches of the sanctum sanctorum carries the figure of Hanuman near the monolithic Nandi, probably intended to remind the Nandi-Vanara episode in Ramayana.
